7 Step-by-Step Guide to Advertise Your Business on Google for Free | 7hubent Tech

In Nigeria, it’s almost like we have a love-hate relationship with "free things". Let’s be real—free is good! But some of these “free offers” can carry wahala with them, abi? But today, I won’t waste your time with the fake “free” stuff that will leave you crying in front of your laptop, screaming "It’s a scam!" Let’s talk about advertising your business on Google—yes, for free, and I mean for real this time.

Now, for many small business owners in Nigeria, it’s either you “advertise or disappear!” After all, in today’s digital age, if you are not online, you might as well be invisible. But, who get money to dey pay for Google ads like that? No be everybody o. This is where my oga at the top—free Google advertising—steps in like a savior. So, pull up your chair and let me guide you step by step, with my favorite 7 methods to advertise your business on Google for free.

 1. Create a Free Google Business Profile (Formerly Google My Business)

This one na oga kpatakpata! First thing, if you never get Google Business Profile (GBP), e be like say your shop dey open but nobody fit find am for map. With Google Business Profile, your business will show up in Google Maps and even local search results. When people type "mama put near me," na you go appear. All you need is your business name, address, and phone number (NAP) to get started.

Futuristic Bonus Tip: Keep updating your profile regularly. Add new photos, answer customer questions, and respond to reviews. Google will love you for that and push you higher in search results!

 2. Optimize Your Website for SEO

Ah, SEO—the three letters that sound like witchcraft to many business owners in Nigeria! But relax. No be juju. SEO is simply making sure your website speaks the language Google likes. If Google no sabi wetin your website dey talk, e no go fit help you advertise.

Start by using the right keywords. If you sell shoes in Kano, use keywords like “affordable shoes in Kano” or “best shoe store in Kano.” But don’t overdo it! No be to jam-pack your website with "shoe shoe shoe". Google go vex, and you no go get traffic.

Pro Tip: Use tools like Google Keyword Planner—it’s free and gives you insight into what people are searching for.

 3. Leverage Google Search Console

I know some of you have heard about this one, but you're thinking, "Ahan! What's this one again?" Don’t worry. Google Search Console is your eye inside Google’s brain. It helps you understand how your site is performing in search results, shows you what keywords people are using to find you, and even helps you fix small issues that could prevent your site from ranking.

In short, it’s like having a CCTV camera inside Google's office. You get to see what’s working and what's not for free!

 4. Blog Your Way to Google’s Heart

You think say na by chance people dey show for the first page of Google? Nah. Content is key. Start a blog for your business. But make it relevant—don’t go and start talking about random things like how the weather is in Warri when you sell electronics in Lagos. Write blog posts about how your products or services can help solve problems for people.

You fit even write about how to care for the items you sell, or the benefits of using them. But always remember to sprinkle in those magic keywords—don’t just throw them anyhow o!

 5. Get Listed in Free Business Directories

Let’s say your business is a big market. If nobody knows the market, who will come to buy? Simple logic, right? In the same way, Google loves when you are listed in multiple free business directories. There are websites out there that will list your business at no cost. Sites like VConnect, BusinessList and of course, 7Hubent Tech, which is basically the King of Free Nigerian advertising (I know, I'm biased).

The more places your business appears online, the more credible it looks to Google. And when Google sees that you’re credible, you start rising higher in search results!

 6. Use Google Trends to Stay Ahead

Imagine this: you’re selling umbrellas, and suddenly, it starts raining cats and dogs across Nigeria. Do you just sit back and watch? Of course not! You go take advantage of the rain, right? Google Trends is like a weather forecast for keywords—it shows you what’s trending right now.

If you jump on popular keywords early, you can rank faster and easier, even for short periods. So, you might not be number one forever, but when it rains, you will be the first umbrella seller they find.

 7. Participate in Google Community Discussions

Wait, don’t run away! I know this one sounds boring, but hear me out. Google has forums and communities where businesses like yours can interact with experts and learn tips that could help you rank better. These forums are full of “Google insiders” and even other Nigerian business owners who have cracked the free-advertising code.

Sometimes, just one golden nugget of advice can push your business ahead of the competition. And it’s free o! You don’t even need to sign up for anything fancy. Just show up, ask questions, and learn.

 Wrapping It Up—Abi, na scam?

Now, I know you might be reading all this and still thinking, "Google free advertising—e no dey possible jare!" But trust me, it works. Thousands of Nigerian businesses are making waves online without spending a kobo on ads, and you can join them too.
